PCI SSC The Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council comprises of all the major payment card companies - MasterCard Worldwide and Visa International, American Express, Discover Financial Services, JCB. In order to protect card holders personal information from theft and obviously fraud they have jointly established a set of rules which are commonly referred to the 12 Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) requirements.

These rules are only good if Acquiring Banks, Payment Processors and Businesses accepting card payments “merchants” use best business practices and adhere to these rules. It is imperative in the fight against fraud that merchants are educated and then implement measures to protect consumers personal information.
